United Way’s ResCo Program Hits the Trail for a Day of Fun and Connection
United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties' Resilience Collaborative Case Manager, Makayla Garcia, led participants on a horseback riding trip last week through the West Virginia mountains. The group included residents from ResCo's transitional and respite housing program, along with kitchen volunteers who support the The Circle.
The outing gave everyone a chance to try something new and enjoy the outdoors together. For many, it was their first time on horseback, and the experience brought plenty of smiles and shared moments.
Trying new activities and spending time in nature can have a positive impact on mental and emotional well-being. It helps reduce stress, build confidence, and create a sense of connection. For those on a healing journey, these kinds of experiences can be especially meaningful.
The trip was made possible through generous support from the Center for Restorative Justice at West Virginia Wesleyan College in partnership with United Way. Their support helped turn an ordinary week into something truly uplifting!
