United Way Receives $25,000 Grant from FirstEnergy Foundation to Combat Hunger Locally
In recognition of Hunger Action Month, United Way of Harrison & Doddridge Counties is proud to announce the receipt of a $25,000 grant from the FirstEnergy Foundation. This generous contribution is part of FirstEnergy’s multimillion-dollar initiative to fight hunger across its service footprint and reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to being a power for good in the communities it serves.
The grant will directly support United Way’s partner agencies that are on the front lines of food insecurity, including Senior Meals in Motion, The Warming Shelter, The Resilience Collaborative, and The Gabriel Project. These organizations provide critical services to children, seniors, and vulnerable neighbors, ensuring access to nutritious meals and compassionate care.
“We are deeply grateful to FirstEnergy and the FirstEnergy Foundation for their investment in our mission,” said Martin Howe, Executive Director of United Way of Harrison & Doddridge Counties. “This funding will allow us to strengthen our support for local agencies that are making a tangible difference every day. From delivering meals to homebound seniors to offering warm meals and shelter to those in crisis, these programs are lifelines—and this grant helps keep them strong. And just like every donation we receive through our annual campaign, 100% of this grant will be passed along directly to our partner agencies.”
FirstEnergy and the FirstEnergy Foundation have long recognized the importance of community partnerships in addressing systemic challenges like hunger. Their support during Hunger Action Month highlights the vital role that organizations like United Way play in building healthier, more resilient communities.
To commemorate this generous gift, a check presentation was held.
