$100,000 Grant from Antero Foundation Completes 2025 Annual Campaign
In June, UWHDC was awarded a $100,000 grant from the Antero Foundation to support its vital community programs and services and complete our 2025 Annual Campaign. This generous funding will help bridge critical gaps in local resources, ensuring continued support for families, children, and individuals across the region.
The grant will directly benefit UWHDC’s 16 Partner Agencies and three direct service programs, including The Resilience Collaborative (ResCo), WV 211, and the organization’s Education Department. These programs address essential needs in health, education, and financial stability—core pillars of United Way’s mission.
“This funding comes at a pivotal time,” said Martin Howe, Executive Director of UWHDC. “With federal funding reductions impacting many of our Partner Agencies, Antero’s support allows us to sustain and expand services that are vital to the well-being of our community.”
A portion of the grant will bolster the Rebound program, a ResCo initiative that provides housing support and case management for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households. In 2024, ResCo achieved 65 new housing placements with a 98.5% retention rate, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in preventing homelessness and promoting long-term stability.
The Antero Foundation’s investment aligns with its mission to support education, health, and community development—values shared by UWHDC. The grant will help ensure that local agencies can continue delivering high-impact services, from youth development and senior nutrition to medical care and recovery support.
“We are deeply grateful to the Antero Foundation for recognizing the importance of our work,” said Martin Howe. “Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient community.”
