United Way Helps Americans Achieve Financial Stability

IncomeAs many as one-third of working Americans do not earn enough money to meet their basic needs. Wages have not kept pace with the rising cost of housing, healthcare, and education and currently, 40 million Americans are working in low-paying jobs without basic health and retirement benefits.  For families walking a financial tightrope, unable to save for college, a home, or retirement, United Way is here to help.

Our Goal

United Way of Harrison Count is dedicated to helping lower-income families and those who are financially unstable reach economic independence.

Our Strategy

To address the obstacles that prevent hard working families from getting ahead financially, we initiated an emergecny assistance program designed to provide families with the resources they need to plan for, and accomplish, their long-term financial goals. United member agencies like Central WV Community Action, Inc. specifically work with low-income individuals/families to address their lack of income concerns.

Being financially unstable can affect our quality of life in so many ways, espcieally our children's well-being. Untied Way of Harrison County believes every child should have the same opportunity as the next to participate in meaningful and educational opportunities. United Way member agencies like 4-H Leaders Assn. of Harrison County, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Catch Your Breath, and Learning Options, Inc. have scholarship opportunities for children who live in lower-income households thanks to United Way funding.
